SmartCampus - NC State University GIS Strategic Plan

JMT Technology Group's collaboration with North Carolina State University (NC State) on their GIS Strategic Plan has been a comprehensive and impactful project. NC State initially completed a needs assessment for their Enterprise GIS in May 2015 and revised the plan in May 2018. Since then, they have successfully implemented most of the strategies and recommendations from these plans, however, the university continues to grow its robust enterprise GIS, optimize data organization and workflows, and establish new priorities.

JMT was hired to develop the third iteration of the University’s GIS Strategic Plan. This project involved several key tasks, including a review of peer institutions’ GIS systems, which encompassed five universities and one local government agency. JMT Technology Group recommended areas of opportunity that the university should explore over the next three years to have the most significant impact. 

The JMT Technology Group team developed a draft strategic plan for the next three years for NC State, using information gathered throughout the strategic plan development process. This report included insights derived from stakeholder meetings, peer institution reviews, and results from a survey created and distributed by NC State. JMT Technology Group worked closely with university stakeholders to assist with a final presentation to the NC State GIS Steering Committee.
