GIS Analyst - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology services and solutions provider, has an opening for a GIS Analyst with experience analyzing and maintaining data using the ESRI suite of products with a focus on asset management. This individual will report to the Trenton, NJ office but will provide on-site/remote support for a client in Trenton. 

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Review and interpret source data files and translate information into GIS format 
  • Review field collected data and QC/verify using GPS and other mobile data collection tools 
  • Use Desktop ESRI apps to create, edit and maintain vector GIS data in various formats (i.e., file geodatabase, SDE, Portal, shapefile)
  • Create, publish, and edit feature and manage map services in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS
  • Perform edits to GIS data in a versioned database (branch and traditional) and reconcile/post edits with the default/parent version resolving possible conflicts
  • Create, update, and maintain ArcGIS Online/Portal platform applications including Story Maps, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Survey 123
  • Utilize analysis capabilities within ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to perform complex and advanced spatial analysis and distills results into formats that are easy to comprehend
  • Process data and map requests and produce high quality hard and soft copy map deliverables
  • Develop Python scripts or use Model Builder to automate repetitive geoprocessing tasks
  • Develop Arcade or SQL expressions for custom content in ArcGIS applications
  • Assist in developing training materials and provide instruction to internal staff and clients
  • Assist with testing and deployment of custom GIS applications and tools
  • Evaluate new software and offer innovative GIS approaches to existing and potential projects
  • Assist project and task managers in formulating and implementing project plans and managing task-based work and regularly report progress on assigned work
  • Work directly with clients to identify and document requirements and formulate and implement cost-effective GIS-based solutions to meet their needs
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures and provide suggestions for process improvements 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning, or related field, with relevant coursework in GIS 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing Esri’s latest suite of technology, including ArcGIS Pro
  • Ability to complete geoprocessing tasks independently when instructed 
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers, and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines 
  • Ability to mentor junior level staff and lead project specific tasks 

 Preferred Experience

  • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification 
  • Minimum of two years of experience delegating tasks and reviewing other team members’ work and working independently on complex tasks 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing Portal for ArcGIS 

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
