Cloud Solution Administrator - Hunt Valley, Maryland

The Cloud Solution Administrator will serve as an organization’s systems administrator for JMT cloud infrastructure solutions. They will be responsible for effective administration of JMT cloud infrastructure environment. Develop, enforce, and update policies for how employees and users access cloud services; establish security protocols and policies; monitor and ensure uptime; and assess the need for technology updates. Plan and assist with administration of all cloud environments.

 

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage cloud solutions per approved design requirements.
  • Develop Service Level Agreements (SLA) and perform associated solution maintenance.
  • Responsible for system configuration, maintenance, and provisioning as per design requirements.
  • Maintain a highly secure system through proper configuration and system access monitoring.
  • Administer and support backup and disaster recovery process.
  • Develop and enforcing Cloud Governance standards, which lead to cost optimization.
  • Administer cloud cost management.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving Cloud service-related issues.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation involving cloud solutions and technologies related to production and test environments.
  • Deliver a consistent process for incident and problem escalation along with resolution.
  • Aid with cloud solution software development lifecycle (SDLC) through pipeline deployment.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • Progressive experience in a technical help desk or a customer service environment
  • Progressive experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Amazon Web Service (AWS) experience a plus.
  • Experience with Azure AD and Exchange
  • Cloud solution certifications a plus
  • Experience with supporting Microsoft Devops

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience creating PowerShell scripts to perform administrative tasks is a plus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for consulting and delivering successful projects to our customers for the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions, and for custom and configured applications. We’re looking for someone who can form and maintain positive customer relationships while helping drive new business to the company. 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Be actively engaged and immersed in the proposed solutions and subject matter of assigned projects 
  • Provide frequent and direct communication with clients 
  • Develop technical scopes of work and approaches for projects with project teams that require the design, development, integration and implementation of custom software solutions, commercial-off-the-shelf applications, or GIS services and solutions in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) 
  • Monitor and manage project performance, scope, budget, quality, risks, and schedule for all assigned projects including Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and contract compliance ensuring high levels of customer service 
  • Recognize and help mine new business opportunities 
  • Understand and document customers’ business requirements  
  • Work with business and systems analysts to translate business requirements into functional requirements and specification 
  • Identify effective solutions as part of a project team 
  • Prepare and participate in project-related presentations 
  • Prepare and update project management plans 
  • Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) 
  • Prepare estimates of hours and cost to perform the required services with the assistance of the project team 
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules  
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and meeting minutes 
  • Prepare progress reports monthly, or as contracts require 
  • Review and validate invoices 
  • Validate and maintain project documentation 
  • Update resource forecast for assigned projects 
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders 
  • Manage subconsultants 
  • Attend and present at conferences and seminars 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of information technology or related discipline 
  • At least 5 years of direct work experience in a project management capacity for GIS and/or application development projects. 
  • Experience managing web application development projects 
  • Experience managing GIS implementation projects 
  • Experience preparing and providing presentations in public and project settings 
  • Experience writing technical proposals and project documentation   
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers, and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines 
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project 

Preferred Experience 

  • Master’s degree in the field of information technology or related discipline  
  • PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) credential 
  • Experience implementing solutions for state and local government  
  • Experience implementing software solutions in the transportation, airport, water/wastewater, environment and natural resource, facility, or public safety markets 
  • Experience implementing Esri technology in a consulting capacity 

 

Working Conditions 

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
