JMT worked with the City of Columbus to design and build a database for retrieval of archived financial information and records retention. The city wanted a simple, inquiry-based SQL Server database built using non-proprietary, open solutions for authorized internal and inquiry use only. The database should also allow simple SQL access for select users to use their saved SQL queries as well as meeting specific longevity and lifecycle maturity requirements. Consolidating the two distinct SQL server database sources into a single front-end application, JMT developed the database architecture with user experience and presentation in mind. The legacy data was cleansed to meet the new data schema and for future data needs. Combining a web application interface with PowerBI, the result was a scalable system that allows the City of Columbus to pull a wide variety of reports as well as view images of documentation associated with the data. The executed results from the interface are then exportable to the formats of Excel and CSV.
