Get to know Jamie Gant! Jamie has more than 20 years of experience in interactive software development and computer science education in both commercial and academic settings. First and foremost, he considers himself an innovative augmented reality and virtual reality “immersioneer," working on immersive solutions that solve complex problems and enhance everyday lives. Each of his past projects has combined his background in digital education with an innovative design and storytelling approach that enables users to navigate challenges and enhance their understanding of the world around them. Two of his recent projects combined augmented reality with artificial intelligence to help visualize the causes and effects of climate change. At JMT, he is helping to innovate in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, applying AR/VR technologies in real-world scenarios to solve complex challenges.

1.What do you do at JMT?

I am the Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR) specialist integrating AR & VR into AEC solutions for our clients.

2.What brought you to JMT?

The ability to build real world AR & VR solutions in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, & Construction) industry is what brought me here. Typically, you see AR & VR in games, but being able to integrate these technologies into the AEC industry is a challenge that I wanted to tackle.

3.What do you like most about JMT?

The thing I like most about JMT is the people and wide knowledge base across the AEC Industry. I am able to learn different aspects from these experts and help to integrate AR & VR solutions in a real world impactful way for clients.

4.What type of projects do you like to work on most?

I enjoy all types of projects because I am learning the AEC industry. Primarily I have worked with DOTs and I find it interesting that they are starting to explore the Augmented Realty space and how they can use it for their projects.

5.What advice do you have for someone who wants to get into this industry / career?

For this or any industry, I would suggest you learn as much as you can about the industry. But then you have to come with an open mind to learn from the experts and professionals as you start your career. In every career, you are simply a solution provider and it doesn't matter what your job title is. You are here to create better solutions for a problem the client or your company may have. The better you become at being a solution maker, the better you will be in any industry you choose.

6.What is something new and exciting that you're working on?

Something new and exciting that I am exploring using the Apple Vision Pro and how to utilize it for Model collaboration, 360 documentation, and more within the AEC space. Using this revolutionary device within the AEC industry can break ground on innovation that can change the way we all create solutions moving forward.
