What do you do at JMT?

I am a User Experience Designer for the Technology Group. I work with project managers, developers, and business analysts to design mock-ups based on project requirements. Once the client approves the designs, the developers bring it to life.

What brought you to JMT?

I am excited by the type of work JMT does. Whether it's an application that improves public safety or a dashboard that supports a small team, JMT's work is impactful and keeps it interesting.

What do you like most about JMT?

I have the opportunity to work with really great people who are eager to collaborate and innovate to solve problems. At JMT, I am constantly learning and growing.

What type of projects do you like to work on most?

I like working on data-driven projects. I like the challenge of translating a data model into something a user can interact with and logically digest the information.

What advice do you have for someone wanting to enter this industry / career?

One piece of advice is to take on projects that may seem intimidating. When you listen to the user or subject matter expert, you learn a lot about their process, pain points, and aspirations. You don't need to be an expert on the topic to design a great solution; you can develop a solution from a new perspective and with fresh eyes.

What is something new and exciting that you're working on?

Lately, I have been working on mapping applications and exploring the world of GIS. My latest project was a campus map application focusing on the student experience. I am excited about utilizing this solution as an asset management tool for facilities and indoor navigation—the possibilities are endless!
