ACEC Metropolitan Washington Selects JMT as Honor Award Winner
We are pleased to announce that JMT / JMT Technology Group has been awarded an ACEC Metro Washington Honor Award for the Traffic Signal Control System Modernization Project with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)!
This project will implement state-of-the-art traffic control technology to enhance safety and mobility. DDOT is replacing 1600 traffic signal controllers and the central software that controls the signal control system as they are at the end of their lifecycles. JMT assisted in developing a concept of operations and a step-by-step implementation plan for signal system replacement over the next four years. The project will make DC’s transportation system more reliable and safer for all users - drivers, transit riders, pedestrians, bicyclists, and deliveries
Glenn Havinoviski, Director of Intelligent Transportation Systems for JMT Technology Group, served as task manager for the development of a Concept of Operations and Implementation Plan for the replacement of DDOT’s central traffic control system and all 1600 traffic signal controllers, which relied on outdated technology. Glenn was supported by Jason Ramsey, Senior Systems Engineer, who developed several implementation alternatives for staged implementation of the central system replacement and controller replacements throughout the District of Columbia. JMT’s subconsultant was Mead & Hunt.
Glenn attended the ACEC Metro Washington Awards banquet on December 17, 2024, to accept the honor on behalf of the team alongside Neelima Ghanta (Chief Traffic Safety Engineer) and Rahul Jain (Senior Transportation Manager) of DDOT.
