Fostering the Next Generation of Technology Professionals with Building Steps
On Thursday, January 30, JMT Technology Group hosted a group of Baltimore high school students interested in learning more about careers in science and technology for a coding seminar in our Hunt Valley, MD, office. JMT partnered with Building Steps, a Baltimore-based organization working to advance the careers of high school students in Baltimore City schools. Building Steps accepts students who apply to the program in their sophomore year of high school and start sequential STEM programming in their junior year. They also offer support for their alumni throughout college and beyond.
The Technology Group participates by hosting a STEM seminar on block coding where students create a program for an automated vehicle to run a course. Our team challenged the students to use iterative processes to develop the program and optimize it for speed. They also showed the students various levels of automation used in real vehicles and the differences between connected and automated vehicles.
We are proud to support our community in Baltimore through a fantastic organization like Building Steps, and we wish the best to the budding technology professionals in this program!
